VISUALIZING PORES AND NON-WETTING PHASE IN POROUS ROCK

This paper presents scanning electron photomicrographs showing the spatial distribution of nonwetting phase in several example reservoir rocks. Intrusion porosimetry is used to control the saturation of nonwetting Wood's metal. Fluid flow implications and pore features affecting residual oil saturation are discussed. Concepts of oil reconnection in tertiary floods may be enhanced by these studies.
