摘要
The phase diagram near the (4 X 2) structure of Te on Mo(110) is studied. It is found that the order, which is fourfold degenerate with respect to the substrate, is destroyed by two successive (Ising-type) phase transitions. Between these two transitions a new, fluctuation-induced phase with partially restored symmetry is observed. In the incommensurate structures one or two successive phase transitions occur, depending on the symmetry of the domain-wall lattices.
