SYNERGISTIC COADSORPTION OF NICOTINIC-ACID AND 3-ACETYLPYRIDINE AS STUDIED BY SERS

Surface-enhanced Raman spectra of 3-acetylpyridine (3-ACP)+nicotinic acid (NA)+0.1 mol l-1 NaCl solutions on polycrystalline silver electrodes are reported in the wavenumber range 500-1750 cm-1. The data were investigated in order to draw reasonable conclusions about the molecular structure in the electrolytic double-layer region. Band assignments were carried out according to the solution and surface-enhanced Raman shifts of the individual components. The surface active species were identified. A model based on an interaction between 3-ACP and NA is proposed to explain the observed spectra.
