INFRARED SPECTRA OF GLASS NETWORK FORMERS AND THEIR INTERPRETATIONS

摘要
The theoretical characterization of the optical spectra of simple glasses is not presently possible. However, considerable infrared data, exists in the literature, and attempts have been made to interpret these data by two approximate methods: 1) localized model, assume a vibrating unit and treat it in a rigid environment; 2) lattice model, assume a vibrating unit and treat it as one would the unit cell in the plane-wave method. The physical reality of these two approaches will be discussed in light of recent experimental and theoretical developments. © 1968.
