DOES THE 17 KEV NEUTRINO INDICATE LE-L-MU+L-TAU SYMMETRY

摘要：

It is argued that the existence of a 17 keV neutrino reported in recent beta decay experiments, along with the MSW resolution of the solar neutrino puzzle, may be indicating a spontaneously broken global L(e) - L-mu + L-tau symmetry within the see-saw picture for neutrino masses. The simplest realization of this idea requires SU(2)L x SU(2)R x U(1)B-L gauge symmetry with a low scale for the right-handed W's and a radiative mechanism for neutrino Dirac masses.
