摘要
The microstructure of polyisoprene produced by sec-butyllithium initiation in a hydrocarbon solvent has been investigated as a function of initial monomer and initiator concentrations. The trans-1, 4 content was found to increase as the initiator concentration increased and as the monomer concentration decreased. It is suggested that the trans content increases because cis-active centers produced by monomer addition can isomerize to trans-centers when monomer addition is slow. To check this hypothesis the isomerization rates of model compounds of DP=1 and 2 have been measured. It is found that such a mechanism in conjunction with a higher rate of addition of monomer to cis-centers can account for the observed changes in microstructure. © 1978, American Chemical Society.
