摘要
The present study assesses the relationship between informal activity with friends and morale among a sample of black and white elderly. Results indicated that informal activity with friends has a significant relationship with morale among white elderly, but not among blacks. Findings from prior research, together with data obtained in follow-up interviews with black respondents, are used to explain this differential relationship. The substantive findings and their implications for theory development, future research and practice in social gerontology are highlighted. © 1979 Oxford University Press.
