RETINOPATHY IN ROCKY MOUNTAIN SPOTTED FEVER

This report discusses the clinical course and ophthalmoscopic findings in a case of Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Attention is called to the lack of prior descriptions of these changes. The severe illness of this child, including coma and other central nervous system signs, afforded the opportunity of establishing the time of onset and subsequent evolution of papilledema and other retinal abnormalities. It would seem desirable, even in the absence of this specific indication for repeated fundus examination, to attempt to document these and other possible changes, heretofore largely ignored, in this disease. © 1969.
