摘要
Solutions of triphenylmethyl chloride in five solvents (n-hexane, cyelohexane, 2,2,4-trimethylpentane, carbon tetrachloride, and carbon disulfide) subjected to pulse radiolysis gave yields of triphenylmethyl carbonium ion equal within experimental error to the total yield of free ions in these solvents over the solute concentration range 10-3 to 10-2 M. The ion does not form in the presence of substances like alcohol which possess basic character. Kinetics of formation and decay of the ion were determined.
