摘要
The properties of continuum source particle beams, also called aerosol beams or seeded molecular beams, are investigated. Beams generated by expansions through converging cone nozzles are considered. Beam properties pertinent to the application of aerosol beams in the on-line measurement of particle size and composition distributions are emphasized. Methods for calculating the dependence of aerosol beam properties on particle size, shape and mass, source temperature and pressure and nozzle geometry are described and results are presented. The calculated results are compared to experimental data. A simple empirical method of modeling frictionless, isentropic transonic and supersonic flow in a free jet is described and used in the numerical experiments. © 1979.
