GROWTH AND SUPERCONDUCTIVITY OF ND2-XCEXCUO4 SINGLE-CRYSTALS

Nd1.85Ce0.15CuO4 single crystals were grown by the traveling solvent floating zone (TSFZ) method. The grown single crystals were 6 mm in diameter and 50 mm in length with a metallic luster, and had no inclusions and cracks. The as-grown crystals were semiconductors. When annealed in nitrogen, the crystals became superconductive with Tc = 22 K and DELTA Tc = 2 K, showing a significant anisotropy in resistivities above Tc.
