摘要
Alcohol can have profound metabolic effects, as most people have experienced directly or indirectly. Over the long term continued alcohol intake leads to the phenomena of tolerance and dependence. In this article, Chris Cavey considers the problems of achieving a suitable animal experimental model for studying alcoholism, together with the information which we now have available concerning the metabolic effects and side-effects of an excess of alcohol in the mammalian system. © 1979.
