ACTION OF AFLATOXIN ON SOME REDOX ENZYMES AND COMPLEXES OF AVIAN LIVER-MITOCHONDRIA

摘要
The in vitro effect of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) on the coupling membrane-bound and matrix NAD+-dependent dehydrogenases and electron transport complexes of guinea fowl (Numida meleagris Pearl) liver mitochondria was investigated. Redox-dye measure ments indicated that AFB1 (0.05 - 5 μm) decreased the activities of the membrane-bound dehydrogenases, whereas the matrix enzymes were only inhibited at the highest toxin concentration tested. Spectrophotometric studies of the electron transfer complexes spanning the entire respiratory chain suggest that AFB1 interferes with mitochondrial electron transport by inhibiting succinate dehydrogenase activity and the cytochrome systems. © 1979.
