摘要：

A case of lingual mandibular bone cavity has been reported. Microscopically, it was composed of a mucocele which contained salivary gland tissue in its wall. Two explanations have been advanced to explain the presence of salivary gland tissue within the mandible, and a hypothesis has been presented to explain the development of this bony cavity. In view of the microscopic variance of this lesion and the fact that these lesions simply do not fit the definition of a cyst, it is hoped that the terms static, solitary, or latent bone cysts will be discarded in favor of the term lingual mandibular bone cavity, as advocated by Olech and Arora.1. © 1969.
