NEUTRINO CROSS-SECTIONS AND THE SMALL ATMOSPHERIC NU-MU NU-E RATIO

摘要
From consideration of the energy dependence of the nu(mu)- and nu(e)-nucleus cross sections and different choices of the momentum thresholds for nu(mu)- and nu(e)-induced events in underground water Cherenkov detectors, it is argued that the neutrino-nucleus cross sections currently used to calculate the expected atmospheric neutrino-induced event rates do not introduce significant error in comparing the measured and expected muon to electron event ratios.
