摘要
Measured compensatory shifts in spatial judgments consequent on observation of the hand through prisms in 4 groups. Ss were 16 male and 16 female students. Continuous observation of passive movement produced smaller shifts than 3 conditions involving active movement. There was no evidence in acquisition or retention that the addition of visual targets providing a source of error information with respect to hand movement in the active conditions was conducive to more exact compensation. An earlier report by S. J. Freedman, L. Wilson, and J. H. Rekosh that inclusion of targets produced superior performance was interpreted as a reflection of the identity of stimulus and response components of the exposure and test tasks peculiar to those conditions in their study.
