ANALYTICAL TREATMENT OF THE HOLE IN THE INTERNAL FIELD DISTRIBUTION FOR AN INFINITE-RANGE SPIN-GLASS

摘要
Within a simple Bethe-Peierls-Weiss approximation the authors show by analytical means that a square hole or gap arises in the low-temperature probability distribution p(h0) of the single-particle excitation fields h0 at h0=0 for an infinite-range spin glass. In an externally applied field, the hole remains centred about the zero value of the total field. The reasons for the unphysical low-temperature results occurring in the Sherrington-Kirkpatrick (1978) and Bethe-Peierls-Weiss treatments are clarified in the discussion.
