摘要
The clinicopathologic features of seventy-six Nigerian patients with ameloblastoma seen at the University College Hospital in Ibadan over a 10-year period have been reviewed. A scheme which divides the mandible and maxilla into five areas is suggested. This facilitates the description of site incidence, particularly in the case of extensive lesions of the jaws. The majority of the tumors affected the anterior portion of the mandible (areas 2 and 3), and this is thought to be related to oral sepsis and increased incidence of calculus deposition in Nigerian patients. The relative ratio frequency of ameloblastoma in Nigeria is similar to those reported from other parts of the world. There is a slight excess of male patients, with a male: female ratio of 4 to 3. The various histologic variants of ameloblastomas have been discussed. © 1969.
