摘要
Opportunities for the beneficial use of manmade underground space in Hong Kong have been recognised increasingly in recent years. To promote the use of underground space and to ensure a systematic and consistent approach in dealing with cavern developments, both technically and administratively, a regulatory framework has been developed by the Hong Kong government. This includes the formulation of the ''Planning Guidelines for Underground Rock Cavern Development'', the publication of the ''Geoguide4: Guide to Cavern Engineering'' (GEO 1992), and the preparation of a guidance document on fire engineering for caverns.
