摘要
1. 1. The three hemoglobins (Hb-1, Hb-2, Hb-3) in the hemolymph of the brine shrimp Artemia salina can give rise to ten phenotypes: no detectable hemoglobin, all three, any one, or any combination of two hemoglobins. 2. 2. Hemoglobin concentration was increased (up to twentyfold above control values) by low oxygen, high carbon monoxide, or by addition of ferric EDTA, tryptophan, cysteine or inositol to the culture medium. 3. 3. In eight zygogenetic races, total hemoglobin and amount of Hb-1 was higher in females than in males. 4. 4. In a clone of genetically identical parthenogenetic females, expression of Hb-2 and Hb-3 was influenced by environmental and ontogenetic factors. © 1969.
