NON-EQUIVALENCY OF OCTAHEDRAL-SITE FE3+ IONS IN SUBSTITUTED FERRITE-GARNET

摘要
Mössbauer effect at the nuclei 57Fe has been investigated in the garnet Y0.3Ca2.7Fe3.65V1.35O12. In the octahedral sublattice some non-equivalent sites of Fe3+ ions were observed. This non-equivalency was shown to result from a different number of Fe3+ ions in the nearest-neigbour tetrahedral sites. Effective magnetic fields at the Fe3+ nuclei in non-equivalent a-sites have different values and different temperature dependences. It has been concluded that at a given temperature (far from 0° K) the value of Heff depends on the number of magnetic neighbours in the nearest tetrahedral environment of the Fe3+ ions. © 1969.
