摘要
The Schrödinger equation for the A-nucleon system can be solved approximately by means of the Rayleigh-Schrödinger variational principle. Suitable trial functions for this method can be derived with the aid of cluster representations. From this, a general and unified theory of nuclear bound states and reactions may be formulated. The manner in which the description of the nuclear resonance states, the optical model, and the direct reaction approximations are contained within this theory is discussed. Principal features of resonance theory are studied quantitatively by means of simple examples. © 1969.
