摘要
Separation of ethanol-water mixtures was carried out by pervaporation through membranes of polyallylamine modified with perfluoroheptyl groups (PAAF). The influence of the membrane's surface properties on their performance in pervaporation has been investigated. When the surface of the membrane faced the feed, ethanol permeated preferably. When the same membrane was repeatedly used for pervaporation, the permselectivity for ethanol decreased, and the contact angle for water of the membrane fell off. Various membranes were prepared by changing times of casting. The permselectivity for ethanol, the surface properties and the thickness of the membranes have been investigated. The results showed that better permselectivity for ethanol was obtained as the water repellency was higher and for thinner membranes. When the surface faced the vacuum side, the selectivity decreased. © 1990, The Society of Polymer Science, Japan. All rights reserved.
