AUTOWAVE PROPAGATION IN A BELOUSOV-ZHABOTINSKY MEDIUM WITH IMMOBILIZED CATALYST AND STATIONARY FLOW OF REAGENTS

摘要
The propagation of chemical waves was studied in a tube reactor under the conditions of a stationary flow of Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) reagents whereas the catalyst ferroin was immobilized in silicahydrogel particles forming a fixed bed. For small values of the streaming velocity it was observed that the autowaves were accelerated in the direction of the flow and retarded in the opposite direction. Two critical values of the streaming velocity were found to exist. Beyond the first critical value autowave propagation in the direction opposite to the flow became impossible. If with further increase of the flow velocity the second critical value was exceeded the waves were extinguished even in the downstream direction.
