COULOMB GAP AND TUNNELING CONDUCTANCE IN ONE-DIMENSIONAL AND 2-DIMENSIONAL SYSTEMS

摘要
We have studied numerically the density of states of one-dimensional and two-dimensional systems with localized states interacting via the electron-electron Coulomb interaction. The results can explain tunnelling conductance measurements on granular Al wires and films in terms of the Coulomb gap. We have considered the effects of a finite localization length, and of screening by a metallic electrode, on the Coulomb gap.
