The quadricyclane adduct of C-60 1 contains a norbornene moiety that can be used in the copolymerization with norbornene. The ROMP copolymerization of the two monomers (1% of 1) affords a material that is thermally stable, while retaining the unique electronic and electrochemical properties of the fullerene C-60. The polymer 2 is soluble in the organic solvents and free-standing films can be easily obtained by evaporation of chloroform solutions on a glass substrate.
