摘要
1. Three distinct alpha chains (called alpha-1, alpha-2 and alpha-3) in the skin Type I collagen of chum salmon were isolated by carboxymethyl-cellulose chromatography at pH 5.6, followed by Sepharose CL-4B gel filtration, and were found to exist as alpha-1-alpha-2-alpha-3 heterotrimers. 2. alpha-3 was intermediate in chemical nature between alpha-1 and alpha-2; this finding contrasts with the previous observation that in many teleost Type I collagens, alpha-3 showed more similarities to alpha-1 than to alpha-2. 3. However, the electrophoretic mobility in sodium dodecyl sulphate of alpha-3 from chum salmon, as well as other teleosts, was almost identical to that of alpha-1.
