3-DIMENSIONAL ANALYSIS OF CREEPING POLYCRYSTALS USING PERIODIC ARRAYS OF TRUNCATED OCTAHEDRA

摘要
CREEP in polycrystals is modeled using three-dimensional periodic arrays of truncated octahedral with imperfect interfaces. Arising boundary-value problems are solved with the finite element method. As implemented in the present work, the finite element method is more accurate than a variational approach proposed for this array by ANDERSON and RICE (Acta Metall. 33, 409, 1985). Based on numerical results, simple estimates are provided for the overall response of polycrystals containing creep damage and for the principal facet stress.
