The temperature dependence of the thermopower and the electrical resistivity in the temperature range up to 1000 K for all the REAl2 compounds except for EuAl2 and YbAl2 is presented. Both transport phenomena are nonlinear in their temperature variation above room temperature, which is referred to the influence of the electronic band structure. A model calculation is presented which allows to explain the nonlinearity in thermopower and resistivity, furthermore the variation of the thermopower throughout the REAl2 can satisfactorily be explained in the framework of this model. The spin-disorder scattering contribution to the resistivity is discussed. To avoid the influence of a wrong sample geometry on the experimental resistivity results, a method has been introduced and is described.
