摘要
The He-Kr helical hollow-cathode laser operates in a pulsed mode. To obtain a higher laser-pulse repetition rate it is necessary to isolate the windings of the coil electrodes, to prevent the free diffusion of atoms out of the discharge volume. The most efficient generation is achieved by using rectangular current pulses of duration not exceeding that of the laser pulses. The basic factor limiting the lifetime of the laser is the trapping of gas, on the tube walls, by sputtered particles from the cathode material.
