摘要
The magnetic moment and magnetostriction of the intermetallic compounds Tb//xGd//1// minus //xAl//2 (0. 05 less than equivalent to x less than equivalent to 1) have been measured throughout the ordered state. The same couple of crystal field (CEF) parameters explain the behavior of the whole series. The determined magnetoelastic coupling constants M//2 ** gamma and M//2 ** epsilon remain constant across the series. The Tb**3** plus magnetic moment does not change with Tb content and remains unquenched. The consequence is that the single-ion CEF model applies remarkably well, as well as the mean field approximation.
