KINEMATICAL CONSTRAINTS ON REGGE-POLE RESIDUES

The problem of kinematical singularities and zeros of Reggepole residues for processes with external spins is re-examined. The analyticity of the classical Mandelstam invariants introduce additional constraints into the Reggeization procedure proposed by Wang. The way these constraints work is described using simple examples, and the role of daughter trajectories discussed. These considerations are then applied to vector meson production and charged pion photo-production. In particular, the sharp forward peak observed in this last process, as in neutron-proton charge exchange, is seen to raise a serious problem within the conventional Regge-pole model. © 1968 Società Italiana di Fisica.
