摘要：

A model for interaction between an atomic system with two levels and the transverse electromagnetic field is discussed. This model which is exactly solvable is used to study the probability amplitude for the decay of one level to the other. and to calculate the level shift due to coupling to e. m. field. and the line breadth of the emitted light wave.
