Electron Spin Resonance in Ag-Mn Alloys

A detailed study has been made of electron spin resonance in etched slabs of Ag Mn, with Mn concentrations ranging from 0.19 to 18 at%. At low temperatures the alloys show an increasing linewidth and a shift of the resonance position to well below the g = 2 region. The linewidth and lineshift are reduced if the sample is cooled to low temperatures in a magnetic field of several kOe. From the temperature dependence of the linewidth and lineshift the Neel temperatures for the alloys are estimated and shown to be considerably lower than estimates from resistivity measurements. A similar conclusion has previously been reached for Cu-Mn alloys. Above the Neel points, the linewidths in the Ag Mn alloys have a linear temperature dependence. The temperature gradients of the linewidths are compared with recent measurements in Cu-Mn.
