VAPOR-LIQUID-EQUILIBRIA FOR SYNTHETIC ALCOHOLS PROCESS

Vapor-liquid equilibria were evaluated for the synthetic alcohols process in which the main components were H2, CO, CO2, H2O, CH4, C2H6, C3H8, MeOH, EtOH and n-PrOH. The equations of state adopted were our previously proposed equation of state based on the significant structure model, and the Soave-Redlich-Kwong (SRK) equation. The binary parameters compensating for intermolecular forces in these equations were determined for 45 binary systems. Vapor-liquid equilibria were predicted with these paramenters for the ten- component system related to the synthetic alcohols process. The results showed that our equation of state gave better vapor-liquid equilibria predictions for this process than the SRK. © 1990.
