Known relationships between parameters are combined with probabilistic data occurring in the growth of a pasture by the method of statistical trials or Monte Carlo technique. A preliminary simulation of a Townsville lucerne pasture (Stylosanthes humilis) growing at Katherine, N.T., Australia, is set up with a view to illuminating the interactions that might occur between the pasture and the environment and also to identifying the factors which influence the long term behaviour of the pasture. © 1969.
