Ethenyl carbamate was obtained by selenoxide fragmentation of 2-phenylselenylethyl carbamate. Base-catalysed exchange of ethyl phenylselenylacetate in methanol-OD gave methyl [H-2(2)]phenylselenylacetate from which [2-H-2(2)]ethenyl carbamate and [2-H-2(2)]oxiranol carbamate were derived. Thermolysis of oxiranol carbamate in eg acetone gave 4-hydroxy-1,3-axazolidin-2-one and 3H-1,3-oxazol-2-one.
