摘要
The luminescence properties of Pb2+ in Sr2B5O9 X(X=Cl,Br) are reported. The emission is situated at very short wavelength (approximately 280 nm). In these compounds the position of the energy levels of the Pb2+ ion is determined by the oxygen ions of the borate groups surrounding the Pb2+ ion. The influence of the two surrounding halide ions appears in the Stokes shift, which is the smaller for the Pb2+ luminescence in the bromoborate. In samples with Pb2+ concentrations above 1 at. percent, two other types of luminescent centers are observed. They are ascribed to Pb2+ pairs and Pb2+ ions next to a defect. Energy transfer from the Pb2+ ions to these other Pb2+ centers and its temperature dependence are discussed.
