摘要
The ASTA precipitation gauge has shown systematically less precipitation than the Hellmann gauge. To explain the deficit, wind speed and turbulence intensity profiles above the orifice of both gauges have been measured in a wind tunnel. They showed greater values of wind speed increment and smaller values of intensity of turbulence for the ASTA gauge. This indicates that the deficit is due to the larger wind field deformation above the ASTA gauge. The reasons for this are the bigger orifice rim and the bird protection ring used occasionally on this gauge. The effect of turbulence intensity with respect to the deficit has not been explained as yet.
