A new set of symmetry-breaking terms to describe the effects of current quark masses in confining chiral soliton models is proposed. We calculate the pion-nucleon sigma commutator in such models and obtain values in the range 30-40 MeV, to which the valence quarks and pion cloud make roughly equal contributions. We also note that the values for the commutator extracted from lattice QCD calculations agree well with the valence contribution, rather than the full sigma(piN).
