THERMAL-DEGRADATION OF ISOMERIC POLY(PROPYL ACRYLATE)S AND POLY(BUTYL ACRYLATE)S USING PYROLYSIS-GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY-MASS SPECTROMETRY

摘要
Identification of the major pyrolysis products of the isomeric poly(propyl acrylate)s and poly(butyl acrylate)s are reported using a Curie Point Pyrolyser in conjunction with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The high temperature pyrolysis has not been examined while low temperature studies of several of the acrylates are described in this paper. The products of the degradation reactions are identified and a comparison is done with the results of studies of the polymers of the normal esters, i. e. , methyl to butyl, the branched chain propyl, and the three branched butyl esters, all of the polymers having been examined under the same conditions.
