摘要
Composite materials containing fine titanium carbide particles are produced through reaction synthesis by plasma spraying an agglomerated composite powder, consisting of elemental titanium and graphite. Particles of titanium carbide are bonded with the titanium phase in the sprayed deposit. There are typically two types of titanium carbide particles, one with a diameter of 1-2 mum and the other 0.1-0.2 mum. The effect of the plasma spray conditions on the amount of titanium carbide in the deposits and the formation of the microstructures are discussed.
