摘要
Iron single crystals with the [100] and [110] axes were extended in the temperature range 153°K to 553°K. The initial work-hardening rate of the [100] crystals increased rapidly with decreasing temperature and was larger in purer crystals, but that of the [110] crystals rather decreased at low temperature. It was concluded that the rapid increase of work-hardening rate of the [100] crystals at low temperatures is a property of ideally pure crystals. The cause for the high work-hardening rate of the [100] crystals at low temperature is considered to be the cutting between screw dislocations which have repulsive elastic interaction each other. Cuttings of screw dislocations in this type result in the multiplication of dislocations, increase of dislocation density and work-hardening rate. © 1969, THE PHYSICAL SOCIETY OF JAPAN.
