摘要
An investigation is described into the feasibility of assembling molecular networks by affinity polymerisation of avidin and bisbiotin. Preformed polymers have been spread as monolayers on a Langmuir trough and their surface behaviour characterised. Deposited monolayers have been imaged by TEM. In a parallel programme, chemisorption has been used to grow polymer chains normal to the surface of a gold substrate. Copper decoration indicates that areas as large as 200-mu-m x 200-mu-m can be grown entirely free of pinholes.
