摘要
Residual chloride was found in the microstructure of a graphite-aluminum alloy 6061 metal matrix composite. The source of the chloride was traced to the aluminum infiltration process that utilized the TiB vapor deposit method. Other studies have shown that the residual microstructural chloride accelerates corrosion of aluminum matrices; thus, alternative aluminum infiltration processes that do not leave behind chlorides (and other halides) should be given priority. © 1990.
