DUST ENTRAINMENT IN A SHOCK-INDUCED, TURBULENT AIR-FLOW

摘要
Dust from a layer on the floor of a shock tube is entrained by the air flow behind the unsteady shock wave. The development of the dust mass concentration profiles is measured by means of an optical extinction method. The concentration profiles which can be described by an exponential law approach a stationary limit consistent with the results of pneumatic transport theory. A theoretical model simulating the dust entrainment by a diffusion process is evaluated numerically and compared with the experimental results. © 1979.
