摘要：

Using a generalized form of the logistic equation, dN/dt = rN[1-(N/K).theta.], where .theta. permits the inflection point of the growth curve to vary between K/e and K, it is shown that, under certain conditions, there are evolutionary optima for the value of .theta.. All other things equal, a high value of .theta. is favored. If there is a maximum on the absolute growth rate, the optimal value of .theta. is high in a stable environment and low in an unstable environment.
