摘要
We derive linear macroscopic equations for ferrofluids, in the case of macroscopic anisotropy due to chain formation induced by a strong external magnetic field. Aside from nematodynamics, we propose an additional nonhydrodynamic mode, vibrations of the chains, to explain the observed anisotropy in the ultrasound velocity. © 1990.
