Results are presented for the reflection quantum efficiency as a function of wavelength of thin films of four organometallic materials, triferrocenyl phosphine, dimethyl aminoferrocene, porphyrin iron complex and 1'1-trimethylene ferrocenephane. The quantum efficiency of thin films of CsI vacuum evaporated on to freshly-prepared copper or aluminium surfaces on a borosilicate glass substrate have also been measured. The reflective quantum efficiency increases substantially if the photocathode is subjected to prolonged flushing in dry CH4 or argon gas.
