X-RAY STUDY OF ANTHRACENE UNDER HIGH-PRESSURE

摘要
The cell parameters of the monoclinic normal pressure phase of anthracene have been determined as a function of pressure up to 2.4 GPa. Above this pressure, although no discontinuity of the interatomic spacings is observed, calculations indicate that the normal pressure indexation is no longer valid. A weakly first order or second order phase transformation then occurs. A triclinic cell previously reported in stressed samples at normal pressure does not fit in with our results. Above 5 GPa, the diffraction lines progressively vanish.
